Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most common questions we receive about clothing alterations:

During your appointment, you’ll select your collection date using our in-house system. For urgent needs, we also offer same-day and next-day services. You’ll receive an automated text or email confirming your order number and fitting date. Once your item is ready for fitting, our system will notify you automatically.

You can also check the progress of your order at any time using our online status checker. If your order is completed ahead of schedule, you may have the option to collect it earlier.

Please note: for wedding dress fittings, you must attend on the agreed fitting date.

You don’t need to arrive at a specific time to collect your item. However, please make sure you’ve received an automated text or email confirming that your garment is ready to try on.

If you haven’t received this notification, you can check the status using the order tracker on our homepage. Only visit once your order is marked as “Completed.”

Yes, for £20, we can arrange next-day delivery via DPD (Tuesday to Friday). Once your item is ready, you’ll receive a text message from DPD with the delivery date and a one-hour time slot, so you’ll know exactly when to expect it.

If you need same-day delivery, we can arrange local courier service within a 5-mile radius of our Manchester location for £50.

For urgent needs, we offer same-day and next-day services to ensure your garment is altered and returned promptly. Just let us know your requirements during your visit, and we’ll make sure your item is ready when you need it.

Unfortunately, we only offer tailoring services. We do not provide a cleaning service and are unable to recommend one.

We accept Apple Pay, most Debit cards and Credit cards.

You can track your order anytime using our Order Status Checker. When your order is created during your first visit, our system will automatically send you a text or email with your order number and your fitting or collection date.

Once your item is ready for collection, you’ll receive another automated notification. If your order is completed ahead of schedule, you’ll have the option to collect it earlier than planned.

Absolutely - you can change the fitting date yourself online using the change appointment link or you can send us an email and we can do it for you.

If you need to make changes to your order, please contact us as soon as possible by email or phone. While we agree on a collection date with you during your visit, work on your garment may begin immediately after the order is placed. For this reason, changes may not be possible once alterations have started.

Unfortunately, we do not permit the consumption of food and drink at the appointment due to the risk of spillage which can make contact with clothing.

We understand that life can be busy, but we highly recommend trying on your garments when you collect them to ensure everything is perfect.

If you’re unable to try them on at the time, you may return within 14 days, and we’ll happily repeat the agreed work free of charge. Please note, we can only make adjustments that were included in your original order form.

Customers are required to collect their garment(s) on the agreed collection date stated on their order form. If you need to change this date, please use the change appointment link.

Please note that uncollected items may be disposed of 90 days after the agreed collection date. In such cases, Alterations Boutique Ltd will make reasonable efforts to contact the customer using the details provided at the time of order. If we are unable to make contact, we cannot be held responsible for any resulting loss.

Yes, you may send a courier or a friend to collect your order on your behalf. They will need to provide your order number, name, and telephone number; otherwise, we will be unable to release the order to them.

Please note, we recommend that you collect the order yourself so you can verify that the alterations have been completed correctly according to your instructions. If this is not possible, you may return the items for re-alteration or repair within 14 days of collection.

If you’re unable to visit one of our locations in person, we offer a convenient mail-in service for repairs only. Please note that we do not provide alterations by post, as our trained tailors require accurate measurements taken in person.

To get started, simply follow these steps:

  1. Send Your Item:
    Mail your garment(s) via a tracked service to:

    Please include a covering letter with your contact details and a clear description of the repairs you’d like us to carry out.

  2. Payment and Quote:
    Once we receive and assess your garment, we’ll contact you with a repair quote. After you approve the price, we’ll proceed with the work.

  3. Return Shipping:
    After completing the repairs, we’ll send your garment back to you. Shipping costs apply, with both standard and express delivery options available.
